MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
The Battle for Middle-earth II is a real-time strategy game developed by EA Los Angeles and published by Electronic Arts for PC on February 28, 2006, followed by an Xbox 360 version in July 2006. It draws on both the Peter Jackson films and Tolkien's books, which let it bring in places and peoples barely seen in the movies.
Its campaigns take place during the War of the Ring, in the north of Middle-earth. In the Good campaign, the Elf lord Glorfindel defends Rivendell and unites Elves and Dwarves to drive Sauron's armies out of the north, up to an assault on Dol Guldur. The Evil campaign follows the Mouth of Sauron as the goblins and the forces of darkness conquer the last free strongholds of the north.
The game offers six playable factions (Men of the West, Elves, Dwarves, Goblins, Isengard and Mordor), a Create-a-Hero mode and the War of the Ring mode, a turn-based conquest of Middle-earth mixed with real-time battles.
While the Fellowship heads south, war comes to the north of Middle-earth, where Elves and Dwarves stand against the goblins and the armies of Sauron.
