MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
The Prancing Pony Podcast is a weekly show about Tolkien's Middle-earth, started in February 2016 by Alan Sisto and Shawn E. Marchese, who hosted it together for six seasons. Since Shawn stepped back in August 2022, Alan has led it with a rotating cast of co-hosts, scholars and fellow creators.
The show reads Tolkien's books a few pages at a time, from The Silmarillion and The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings and Unfinished Tales, with smart but easy discussion, a lot of humour and bad puns. Patrons join the Questions After Nightfall episodes, and Alan also hosts a daily show, Today's Tolkien Times. The podcast won the Tolkien Society Award for Best Online Content in 2020 and 2022.
A weekly chapter-by-chapter trip through Tolkien's books, with friendly hosts, guest scholars and a lot of humour.
