The Mythopoeic Society

Description

The Mythopoeic Society is an American non-profit devoted to the works of the Inklings, above all Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams. It grew out of a Bilbo and Frodo birthday picnic held in Los Angeles in September 1967 by a student, Glen GoodKnight.

The Society publishes the peer-reviewed journal Mythlore, holds a yearly conference called Mythcon and gives the Mythopoeic Awards, for fantasy novels and for scholarship on the Inklings. Its winners make a good reading list for anyone who likes Tolkien, and many key books of Tolkien studies have won its scholarship award.

Synopsis
