MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
The Tolkien Estate's official website was relaunched on 26 February 2022, the anniversary of the breaking of the Fellowship, with material from the family archives that had never been shown: Tolkien's own maps drawn while he wrote, paintings and illustrations, pages of manuscripts, family photographs, and recordings of Tolkien and of his son Christopher reading and talking.
The site also carries a biography and a timeline, a selection of letters, a FAQ, and essays by scholars such as Tom Shippey, Verlyn Flieger and Carl Hostetter on his scholarship, his invented languages and his writing systems. It can be read in English, French and Spanish.
