The Atlas of Middle-earth

Description

Karen Wynn Fonstad was an American cartographer with a degree in geography. Her atlas maps the whole of Tolkien's world: the First, Second and Third Ages, the regions of Middle-earth, the journeys of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the battles, plans of places and buildings, and thematic maps of climate, vegetation, population and languages.

It was first published by Houghton Mifflin in 1981. A revised edition in 1991 took into account the History of Middle-earth volumes published by Christopher Tolkien in the meantime. Its distances are still the usual reference for the journeys of Frodo and his companions.

Synopsis

The classic atlas of Tolkien's world, with maps of every Age, every journey and every battle, drawn by a professional cartographer.
