MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
The Old English Exodus is a poem from the Junius manuscript that retells the flight of the Israelites from Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea, in the heroic style of Anglo-Saxon verse. Tolkien lectured on it at Oxford, and this book presents his edited text of the poem, his translation and his commentary.
After his death, Joan Turville-Petre put the book together from his lecture notes. The Clarendon Press in Oxford printed 3,000 copies, dated 1981 but issued in January 1982, and the book was never reprinted, so it is hard to find today.
