Tolkien's Library: An Annotated Checklist was compiled by Oronzo Cilli, an Italian researcher, and published by Luna Press Publishing in Edinburgh in August 2019, with a foreword by Tom Shippey. A second edition followed in 2023.
The book lists more than two thousand books that Tolkien owned, read or cited, from editions of Beowulf to Agatha Christie novels, with notes on the sources that show he knew them. It gives a picture of Tolkien's reading as a scholar and as a writer. It won Best Book at the Tolkien Society Awards in 2020.
