There Would Always Be a Fairy Tale

Description

There Would Always Be a Fairy Tale: More Essays on Tolkien is a second collection of essays by Verlyn Flieger, published by Kent State University Press in December 2017.

The essays were written over twenty years and are grouped loosely by theme, from myth to truth and from social manners to moral behaviour. They cover The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and their place in the legendarium, as well as shorter works such as The Story of Kullervo and Smith of Wootton Major, and many come back to Tolkien's lifelong interest in Faërie. The book won the Mythopoeic Scholarship Award for Inklings Studies in 2019.
