MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
Wikipedia's articles on Tolkien are looked after by WikiProject Middle-earth, a group of volunteer editors formed in November 2005. The project keeps a list of close to two thousand assessed articles on the books, the characters, the places, the languages, the adaptations and Tolkien's life, among them four Featured Articles and more than a hundred Good Articles, Wikipedia's two quality labels.
The rules are strict: every claim must cite a reliable source, no fan theories, no original research. That makes Wikipedia a good place to start on the scholarship around Tolkien, with the references at the bottom of each article to go further.
