MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
LotrProject, the Lord of the Rings Project, is the work of Emil Johansson, a chemical engineering student from Gothenburg when he launched it in January 2012. He set out to place every named character of Tolkien's world in one family tree, and the site grew from there: a timeline of the history of Middle-earth, an interactive map of the Third Age and statistics on the people of Middle-earth, their ages, races and lifespans.
It won the Tolkien Society Award for Best Online Content in 2014. The family tree is the thing to open when you wonder how Elrond is related to Aragorn, or how many generations separate Bilbo from Frodo.
