MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring is a real-time strategy game developed by Liquid Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment for PC on November 4, 2003. Licensed by Tolkien Enterprises, it is based on the books rather than on the Peter Jackson films.
Its Good and Evil campaigns tell side stories of the War of the Ring with well known characters. Gimli and the Dwarves fight the orcs in the Iron Hills, Boromir and Faramir defend Osgiliath, and on the other side Grishnákh sets out to destroy the beacons of Gondor. The free peoples of Men, Elves and Dwarves face the minions of Sauron, and the Fate Points earned in battle can be spent to call heroes or mighty allies such as Ents or a Balrog.
The War of the Ring is fought on every front, from the Iron Hills to Osgiliath, as the free peoples of Middle-earth face the armies of Sauron.
