MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is an action role-playing game developed by Snowblind Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in November 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. A Legacy Edition by Aspyr came out in August 2026 on current consoles and PC.
While the Fellowship carries the Ring south, the game tells the story of the war in the north. The Ranger Eradan, the Dwarf Farin and the Elf Andriel set out to stop Agandaûr, a lieutenant of Sauron gathering orcs, trolls and other servants of the Enemy in the northern lands. Their road takes them from Bree and the ruins of Fornost to Rivendell, the Ettenmoors, Mount Gundabad and finally Carn Dûm, and crosses the paths of Aragorn, Gandalf and Elrond.
Up to three players can team up in co-op, each one playing one of the heroes.
While the Fellowship carries the Ring south, a Ranger, a Dwarf and an Elf fight Sauron's forces in the north to stop his lieutenant Agandaûr.
