MIDDLE-EARTH TIMELINE
A book of family photographs put together by two of Tolkien's children: John Tolkien, his eldest son, and Priscilla Tolkien, his youngest child. It was published in 1992 by HarperCollins and Houghton Mifflin for the centenary of Tolkien's birth.
With more than a hundred pictures and a short text, it follows Tolkien's life through his family: his parents, his love for Edith Bratt and their marriage, the First World War, the birth of their children, his academic career, the writing of his books and the honours he received. It is out of print and found second hand.
Tolkien's life seen through his family's own photographs, chosen and introduced by his son John and his daughter Priscilla.
